Disability scholar to lecture at Miami

Disability scholar and Professor Liat Ben-Moshe will lecture on the connections between disability, homelessness and incarceration at 7 p.m. April 11 in Shideler Hall Room 152.

Ben-Moshe’s lecture will challenge the idea that prisons are “the new asylums” and examine the effects of criminalizing homelessness on mental health.

The event is sponsored by Miami University’s Miller Center for Student Disability Services, the Disability Studies program and the Humanities Center. Ben-Moshe is assistant professor of criminology, law and justice at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
