Oxford Police responds to thefts and shoplifting

The Oxford Police Department responded to three cases of theft, underage drinking and more between April 15 and April 21.

Oxford police reported the theft of a catalytic converter and an inflatable polar bear in the past week. 

The catalytic converter was taken off a vehicle at 231 E. Chestnut St. on an unknown date. A female victim reported the incident to police after she returned to her car from  Thanksgiving break. Police have named no suspects at this time. 

Oxford police were dispatched to North Main Street uptown in the afternoon hours of Dec. 3. A caller stated an inflatable polar bear had been stolen from the Oxford Parks and Recreation Department winter festival. Police have no suspect information at this time. Police also reported three separate shoplifting incidents at the Oxford Walmart on College Corner Pike within the last week. Patrons were observed concealing or changing price tags on items before leaving the store. Suspects in all instances were arrested or cited, and items were returned to employees.
