In its report to the media covering April 15 to April 21, the Oxford Police Department described three cases of theft. One involved a report of medication being taken from the complainant’s house by an unknown person on Apr. 16. The other two were cases of shoplifting. On Apr. 20, $92 was taken from Walmart.
On Apr. 17, there was a traffic stop on Tallawanda Road. The police determined the man was under the influence; he shared with them that he was in possession of mushrooms hidden in his pants. He ran away from the police after being handcuffed but was eventually placed in the patrol vehicle and became combative when transported for processing. He was charged with OVI, resisting arrest, tampering with evidence, escape and assault.
Police responded to a dispute at Park View Arms apartments on Apr. 20. The victim remained at the scene, but the suspect had left when police arrived. The victim was taken to the hospital for evaluation for suspected strangulation or suffocation.
An intoxicated female dialed 911 on Apr. 19 because she was lost. She was found to be 20 years old and was issued with disorderly conduct and underage offenses.
On Apr. 15 an attempted suicide was reported to police. On Apr. 16 a subject having a mental episode and attempting harm to themselves was reported to police. Both subjects were taken to McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital.
