Butler County United Way is collaborating with local organizations to hold a Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway from 11 a.m. to noon Aug. 5 at the Booker T. Washington Community Center in Hamilton.
Each student who attends the event will receive a new backpack filled with supplies appropriate for all ages, including pencils, notebooks and folders. Afterward, children can enjoy the splash pad and snacks. Kona Ice will also be available for purchase.
Donations of filled backpacks and funds will be collected until July 28. Filled backpacks can be dropped off at Butler County United Way from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. Monetary donations of $17 per backpack are also appreciated, payable to Butler County United Way.
The Backpack Giveaway operates on a first-come, first-served basis, and students must be present to receive a backpack. For more information, visit www.bc-unitedway.org.
Partners in the backpack giveaway are Boys and Girls Club of Hamilton, Hamilton Young People Empowered, Hamilton City School District, Shared Harvest Food Bank and YMCA.
