Lane Libraries is looking for writing submissions for its Teen Writing Contest. Entries, including original short stories and poems, will be accepted until April 30. 

According to the library website, children from ages 12 to 18 are encouraged to submit their work. Submissions cannot exceed 2,000 words or five pages and must follow formatting guidelines. Works must be original, not previously published, and include a title.  

Submissions are limited to one per person. Each submission can include one poem and one short story per person. Judging criteria include originality, clarity, ideas presented, voice, word choice, presentation, sentence structure, syntax, and spelling, according to the website.

The first-place winner will be awarded a $50 Amazon gift card, second place gets a $25 Amazon gift card, and third place will win a $15 card. The award ceremony will be held at the Fairfield Lane Library on Thursday, May 19, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
