Miami journalism student dies in Cleveland

Daniela DiSanto, a Miami sophomore, died this week.

Daniela DiSanto, a Miami University sophomore, died this week near her home in the Cleveland area, the university announced Thursday.

DiSanto was a journalism major and a member of the Kappa Delta sorority. The cause of her death was not given in the announcement.

According to the university, DiSanto was described by friends and family as a free spirit and “wonderfully creative.” 

Visitation is being held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. today, Aug. 20, at Schulte & Mahon-Murphy Funeral Home, Lyndhurst, Ohio. A funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, at Church of the Gesu, University Heights, Ohio.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to NAMI Greater Cleveland, 2012 W. 25th St, #705, Cleveland, OH, 44113.

Miami announced that any students needing emotional support to cope with the death of a friend and classmate, should contact Student Counseling Services, at 195 Health Service Center, 513/529-4634; or the office of the Dean of Students, 110 Warfield Hall, 513/529-1827.
