The Oxford Farmers Market will now operate uptown near Oxford Memorial Park on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Oxford City Council unanimously adopted a resolution May 18 to close down the south half of Lot 52  Tuesday  from 3 to 8 p.m. for the Tuesday Farmers Market.

In the past, the Tuesday Farmers Market took place in the T.J. Maxx parking lot off Locust Street. With the new resolution, the weeknight market will now occur in the lot just north of Oxford Memorial Park.

The entire lot is traditionally used every Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to noon  for the weekend Farmer’s Market, but the north side of the lot will remain open for parking Tuesday nights.

According to the resolution, the change will be active from May 2021 through May 2022.

Councilor David Prytherch says that he “can’t wait” to see both markets uptown and within easy reach of Oxford residents.

“This is one of those ways you can think globally and act locally,” Prytherch said during the council meeting. “Local food in a walkable location in the heart of our community. I’m very excited that this will be back uptown Tuesday nights. It’s a great thing for our community, our economy, and our local farm community. So, thank you to the Oxford Farmers Market.”
