More than 4,000 students will be celebrated across eight divisional ceremonies this weekend during Miami University’s Spring Commencement. The ceremonies are scheduled to run May 14 through May 16.

Each ceremony will be outside at Yager Stadium, 700 Weeb Ewbank Way, rain or shine. Miami will also live-stream each event for students and families unable to attend in person.

The 4,000 students graduating will be replaced by 4,644 freshmen starting at Miami in the fall, University President Gregory Crawford announced in a campus-wide video message oThursday. 

Remarks from Crawford and the 2021 Commencement speaker  Carolyn Jefferson-Jenkins  will be included in each ceremony. Graduates will have the opportunity to hear their name called, walk across the stage, receive a diploma cover and pose for a photo, according to the university’s commencement homepage. 

Each graduate is allowed six guests at the in-person ceremonies, who will be assigned seats in socially distanced “pods.” Every graduate, guest, staff and participants must wear face masks and maintain social distancing during the events. 

Miami also hosted an additional in-person ceremony at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 13 at Yager Stadium for the class of 2020, which didn’t have an in-person ceremony last spring due to the pandemic.

The commencement ceremony schedule for May 14 through 16 is as follows:

Saturday, May 15

College of Engineering and Computing, 8 a.m.

College of Arts and Science (Anthropology through Mathematics departments), 1:30 p.m.

College of Arts and Science (Media, Journalism & Film through Western/Individualized Studies departments), 7 p.m.

Sunday, May 16

College of Education, Health and Society, 8 a.m.

Farmer School of Business (Economics, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Human Capital Management and Leadership, Interdisciplinary Business Management and Supply Chain and Operations Management), 1:30 p.m.

Farmer School of Business (Accountancy, Business Analytics, Information Systems and Analytics and Marketing), 7 p.m.
