Pancake lovers and families looking to keep their children occupied will rejoice this Saturday, when Hueston Woods State Park opens its annual maple syrup festival.
The festival runs this Saturday and Sunday, and also the next weekend, March 9 and 10.
From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. those days there will be a pancake breakfast at the Smokehouse Restaurant at Hueston Woods Lodge. Entry fees cost $9 for adults and $7 for children under age 7.
From noon to 4 p.m. Hueston Woods will run free maple syrup tours, which begin with a hayride that starts at the beach parking lot. People who go on the tour will hike through the Big Woods, a designated state nature preserve. They’ll learn about maple syrup production and the area’s history.
From 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., guests can also visit the Nature Center, where they can tour exhibits of reptiles, birds of prey, wild cats and other animals
