Hockey tournament to raise money for Taylor Metcalf Fund

Sixty-five adults have signed up to participate in a hockey tournament that takes place at the Goggin Ice Center this weekend to raise money for the Taylor Metcalf Fund.

The Taylor Metcalf Fund was created when the Talawanda High School student, Taylor, was one of three students killed in a car accident in April, 1995. Taylor was an ice hockey player.

The Taylor Metcalf Fund was created to give families an opportunity to have their

children participate in hockey regardless of their financial situation. The Miami Youth Hockey Board of Directors oversees this fund dedicated to assisting youth hockey players in financial need.

The tournament is structured as a round robin, with games all three days. The adult players come from Southwest Ohio and out-of-state, organizers wrote in an email. All proceeds from the tournament are donated to the Taylor Metcalf Fund.

A youth hockey tournament to support the fund is set to take place in fall.
