The Greater Oxford Community Foundation has named Megan Sparks the 2023 Teckman Educator Award Recipient. Sparks is a physical education teacher at Marshall Elementary. 

The Harry and Virginia Teckman Award is given annually to recognize excellent staff in the Talawanda School District. 

Teacher Cami Schaefer nominated Sparks for the award for her “commitment to the entire population of Marshall Elementary and the Oxford community as well.” 

Sparks researched and developed the school’s Sensory Path. The project is designed to engage with the minds and bodies of students to further develop skills such as hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness. It features stations that have students perform physical activities such as frog leaps and hopscotch. 

The Path helps students focus in the classroom, according to Schaefer.
