Over the past two weeks, Oxford police responded to a gunshot wound caused by an accident at a local gun range and multiple car thefts.

Officers were sent to the MayDay Gun Range Nov. 15 for a report of a male subject who accidentally shot himself in the leg. He was transported to the hospital.

Car thefts were reported on North Beech Street, Churchill Trail, South Main Street and Foxfire Drive with items taken from each vehicle. An electric scooter was stolen from a vehicle on Churchill Trail, while a firearm and hunting equipment were taken from the car on South Main Street. Police don’t believe the thefts have any relation.

Police responded the afternoon of Nov. 22 to unknown individuals tackling Lions Club Christmas Trees at the uptown parks. Most of the trees were damaged to the point they can’t be sold.

A male reported for reckless driving was found unresponsive behind the wheel on Dana Drive during the evening of Nov. 23. The man later admitted to being under the influence of fentanyl. He was arrested for OVI and other related charges.

During the early morning hours of Nov. 27, a business owner on College Corner Pike reported to police that her mailbox was taken off the front door of her business and thrown in the trash. Police did not say if there were any suspects.
