The Myaamia welcome song is performed at the start of a ceremony celebrating the 50th anniversary of the relationship between the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma and Miami University. The singers are George Ironstrack, Haley Shea, Jarrid Baldwin, Kara Strass and Tina Fox.

Representatives of Miami University and the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma participated in a ceremony Nov. 9 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of an unplanned visit by Chief Forest Olds to campus in 1972.

Collaborations between the tribe and university that developed from that visit include the Myaamia Center, which has been leading work in language and cultural revitalization for over 20 years.

The relationship between the tribe and the university has been the focus of a number of art exhibitions and special events this fall.
