Two pilot gardens start initiative to ‘rewild’ local landscapes

The City of Oxford announced it began work on two pilot gardens at the Oxford Community Park: a pollinator garden, sponsored by Audubon Miami Valley and the Sullivan family, and a grassland/prairie sponsored by the Prytherch/Veslany family.

On Nov. 17, city council for the second time postponed the final vote on a “managed natural lawn area” ordinance that would allow residents to let their lawn vegetation grow higher than 10 inches. 

Mayor William Snavely said the city environmental commission wanted more time to discuss and work on the recommendations before going forward with the plan of action.
