The Greater Oxford Community Foundation awarded $60,000 in scholarship funds to 35 Talawanda High School graduates, according to a press release from the non-profit.

Gunner Green, who will attend University of Northwestern Ohio in the fall, said he was “extremely thankful for all the scholarships the Greater Oxford Community Foundation and its donors provided to the senior class at Talawanda this year.” Green, who received four scholarships, plans to study for an associate degree in diesel technology and Agricultural Equipment Technician certification.

Winners were announced at the school’s Senior Awards Night reception May 18. The scholarships recognize student accomplishments in sports and academics, participation in community service and diversity initiatives. Scholarships are available based on financial need, academic merit and for students pursuing specific courses of study.

Kailey Schlichter said that winning the Nancy Kane Continuing Education Award will help her “follow my dreams of becoming a registered nurse” by furthering her education at Miami University.

The Greater Oxford Community Foundation is a financial supporter of the Oxford Observer.
