Happy National Donut Day!

This holiday has been celebrated on the first Friday in June for the past 83 years, according to the Dunkin’ Donuts website. The holiday was established “by the Chicago Salvation Army to honor women who served donuts to soldiers during World War I.”

The day is celebrated by donut shops around the country. Dunkin’, which has a shop in Oxford, offers a free donut while supplies last, as long as you purchase a drink – coffee, milk, or even lemonade.

Krispy Kreme is offering a free donut for the day, but you can also get a second donut if you show up with proof of a COVID-19 vaccination.

If you are looking for other donut havens, or maybe looking for a way to walk off some of the sugary celebration, check out the Butler County Donut Trail, which has 13 possible donut destinations where you can celebrate the day.
