Robin Parker is retiring after 24 years of serving as Miami University’s general counsel.

Parker and her team are responsible for providing advice and consultation on legal-policy issues and supervising litigation involving Miami. They also provide legal services in the areas of employment and benefits, immigration, contracts, student affairs, real estate and intellectual property.

Parker began at Miami in 1994 as legal counsel to the provost, said Jessica Rivinius, director of university news and communications. At the time, there was no general counsel position.

In 1997, Parker was hired as Miami’s first general counsel, Rivinius said.

“Robin has been an integral part of the Miami University team,” said Miami University President Gregory Crawford in a released statement. “She has made tremendous contributions as chief legal counsel and will truly be missed. I wish Robin all of the best as she enters this next chapter.”

Parker’s planned retirement date is Sept. 3o. The search for her replacement is under way and Miami hopes to fill the position this summer, Rivinius said.
