OCAC Art Shop reopens this weekend

The Art Shop at the Oxford Community Arts Center (OCAC), featuring pottery, jewelry paintings and more created by local artists, reopens this weekend from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, April 16 and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, April 17.

Beginning April 19, the new hours for the Art Shop, located in the center at 10 S. College Ave., will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays. Patrons must wear masks and practice social distancing.

Currently, there are eight contributing artists to the shop’s inventory. Art Shop sales are subject to a 20% commission which is then donated to the Oxford Community Arts Center and which can be used for future programs, events, etc.

“It feels wonderful to be opening back up again. The people in the art shop have formed a community with one another and with those who step into the shop. It’s nice to be open to the public and to showcase our art to them,” said Art Shop member and artist Carol Hauser, who specializes in woodcrafts.

Patrons can enter a drawing to win a $25 gift certificate during the reopening this weekend. Two winning names will be drawn on April 17 and the winners do not need to be present to win. Questions about becoming a member of the shop can be emailed to [email protected].
