Zeb Baker was named the inaugural dean of the Miami University Honors College.
This comes after Baker worked as executive director of the honors college since the beginning of the program in 2021. The college replaced the past honors program and rose nationally since its beginnings. According to the press release, the honors college ranking increased because of “its unique courses, study abroad opportunities, faculty mentorship, and residential experience.”
Miami praised Baker’s work in making the honors college a better program. According to Miami’s Provost Elizabeth Mullenix, because of Baker’s work in the college, it has “achieved national recognition and continues to grow, both in reputation and in the number of students enrolled. The honors college is, and will continue to be, a crucial component in bringing top students to Miami.”
The honors college was named as sixth in the nation by College Transitions. The college serves over 2,000 students with more than 500 students joining each year. Baker’s assumed his new position in March.
