Two medical marijuana dispensaries opened in Butler County this week.
Bloom Medicinals, 403 S. Main St. in Seven Mile, opened Thursday and Strawberry Fields, 300 N. Main St., Monroe, opened Oct. 25.
Bloom will be open from noon to 7 p.m. Monday, and Wednesday through Saturday.
Strawberry Fields will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Both are closed Sunday.
The dispensary in Seven Mile will include a variety of products from cannabis oils, flower, tinctures and transdermal patches, according to its website. The dispensary will also hold informative sessions for patients to learn about the products and see if they qualify for a medical marijuana card.
While Bloom is cash-only, the store does have an ATM with zero transaction fees.
First-time customers can expect to show a photo ID and their patient or caregiver ID card. They also will need to complete Bloom’s new patient registration form before purchasing products.
Strawberry Fields is planning to open additional shops in Marietta, Logan and Dayton later this month.
To receive a medical marijuana card, patients must have one of these conditions, according to Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program: AIDS, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, chronic traumatic encephalopathy, Crohn’s disease, Epilepsy or another seizure disorder, fibromyalgia, glaucoma, hepatitis C, inflammatory bowel disease, multiple sclerosis, chronic pain, Parkinson’s disease, positive status for HIV, post-traumatic stress disorder, sickle cell anemia, spinal cord disease or injury, Tourette’s syndrome, traumatic brain injury or ulcerative colitis.
Only physicians who have a Certificate to Recommend (CTR) from the State Medical Board of Ohio may give out medical marijuana cards. Cincinnati has eight such doctors, Oxford has one, Mason has one, Monroe has one, West Chester has two and Harrison, Ohio has one.
