Talawanda softball remained undefeated in conference play this week with a 19-0 win over Northwest on Monday. Talawanda has now outscored opponents 88-16 in seven conference games.
The team also dropped both games of an out-of-conference double-header to Franklin on Saturday and beat Hamilton 6-4 in another non-conference contest on Tuesday. Talawanda now has the top five spots on the individual RBI leaderboard for the Southwest Ohio Conference (SWOC). Junior pitcher Kylie Cobb leads the conference with seven wins and 42 strikeouts.
Talawanda baseball is having a similarly strong run in conference games, outsourcing opponents 106-23 en route to a conference-leading 7-1 record so far. Harrison is hot on their heels in the SWOC standings with a 5-1 record.
Talawanda beat Northwest by a combined score of 24-4 in two games this week. In non-conference games this week, Talawanda lost to the Trailblazers 5-2 on Friday and Ross 7-1 on Saturday but beat Middletown 14-1 on Tuesday.
Junior Eddie Tanner has been the star on offense for the boys from Oxford so far, leading the SWOC by a wide margin with 25 RBIs while sporting a .447 batting average. Senior pitcher A.J. Hainline has struck out 23 batters in just 10.1 innings, earning three wins and a 0.68 ERA in that frame.
The Talawanda Track team competed in two meets this weekend, the Eastern Relays in Louisville, Kentucky and the Eaton Invitational. Bryson Fears earned a 15-second personal record in the 3200 at the Eastern Relays on Thursday and ran a mile in just over 4:30 on Saturday at the Eaton Invitational.
Clayton Bennet earned a school record in the hammer throw at the Eaton Invitational. Gracie Bower finished first in the long jump at the Eaton Invitational. Adriana Luking, Olivia Andrews, Bryson Fears and Lucia Rodbro were named SWOC Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.
The boys tennis team went 1-3 this week in all non-conference matches.
