Between Feb. 19 and Feb. 27, Miami University Police Department responded to 83 incidents. The incidents included six fire alarms, one unidentified alarm, six alcohol violations, 10 drug violations, three reports of hazing, nine calls for medical assistance and four sex offenses.
The six fire alarms all occurred at residence halls, and the miscellaneous alarm was reported from the Oxford Community Arts Center. Three of the six fire alarms came from Hepburn Hall.
Five of the six alcohol violations and nine out of the 10 drug violations occurred in residence halls.
Miami police responded to a traffic crash on Shadowy Hills Drive on Feb. 21 at 11:09 p.m. Alcohol and drug violations were filed along with a traffic law violation for operating a vehicle while under the influence. Police also filed two weapons violations as part of the same incident.
One report of hazing came from a fraternity building on Miami’s campus. Another came from the City of Oxford, and a third from another jurisdiction.
Eight out of nine requests for medical assistance came from Miami University residence halls. The other request came from the Police Services Center.
Two sex offenses occurred in Miami University residence halls, including one allegation of rape. A voyeurism incident also occurred in a Miami residence hall. Two more sex offenses were reported from the City of Oxford and another jurisdiction respectively.
MUPD also responded to an assault on Miami’s campus as well as a stalking report. They responded to two menacing charges in Miami residence halls.
One burglary incident and two thefts occurred at Miami residence halls over this time period. Two instances of identity fraud occurred, one at a residence hall and the other at the Shriver Center. Telecommunications fraud was also reported at the Shriver Center. One theft of a motor vehicle was reported at a Miami residence hall.
There were seven traffic law violations reported, with two being for operating a vehicle while under the influence. Three traffic crashes were also reported, one of them involving a pedestrian.
MUPD also performed three welfare checks at residence halls.
