On Sept. 20, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced that it would be re-opening the COVIDTests.gov website to deliver free COVID-19 tests to households.
Each household is able to order four free rapid tests through the COVID.gov site. According to HHS, these tests are sensitive to current variants of COVID-19 and are intended for use through the end of 2023. The FDA has also released guidance on extended expiration dates for existing at-home tests. Test delivery will be fulfilled by USPS, and is limited to one order of four tests per household.
If you test positive for COVID-19, the U.S. government recommends reporting your test results and following the CDC’s most current guidelines on isolation, including five or more days of isolation after testing positive.
