Thieves take more than $10,000 in Oxford burglary

Between noon and 3:45 p.m. June 11, a house on the 200 block of North Ridge Drive was broken into and items, including an intact safe, were stolen from inside.

According to the Oxford Police report, the victim arrived home after leaving earlier that day and noticed that the safe in the master bedroom was missing. At that point, the victim discovered multiple ransacked rooms and called the Oxford Police Department.

According to the homeowners, the safe had between $10,000 and $15,000 in US currency and a few $100 in Chinese paper currency. Along with the cash were multiple pieces of jewelry and personal documents.

The homeowners reported the burglary at 4 p.m. on June 11. According to the report, a first-floor window was broken from the outside and the screen was removed. 

The front door was damaged and had marks from an attempt to pry it open. According to the report, a large piece of the frame was broken, leaving debris around the crime scene.

Inside the house, drawers were opened and gone through while boxes and suitcases were opened and ransacked. According to the report, the first floor had open drawers and the basement was untouched.

On the first floor, a digital picture frame and another screened device were placed face down by the suspect, according to the report.
