Oxford trick-or-treating, upcoming Halloween events set

Local children will have several opportunities for free Halloween fun around Oxford.

Oxford neighborhoods will host trick-or-treating from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 31.

The annual Ohio Parks and Recreation Department Halloween festival in Uptown Park and trick or treat at local businesses will begin at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 27. The festival will include carnival games and a pet costume contest. The Lions Club Halloween parade starts at 7 p.m.

Talawanda High School is hosting a trunk or treat event at 6 p.m. Oct. 26. This event is free and open to all Talawanda School District families. There will be games, crafts and activities as well as best costume and best trunk contests.

Miami University Activities and Programming will hold the annual Family Weekend Uptown Festival from 7 to 10 p.m. Oct. 22 in Uptown Park. The festival will feature carnival rides, giant slides, games, crafts and funnel cakes. This event is free and open to the public.

 Howl at the Moon returns to OCAC gardens

Join Oxford Community Arts Center  from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 25  for the Howl at the Moon annual Halloween-themed family fun night. 

Located on the west side of the OCAC’s gardens, the event will host outdoor games and activities such as a Howl at the Moon station, a giant pumpkin art project, bowling for ghosts, pumpkin-chunkin’ and witch’s hat ring toss. 

A photo booth, a haunted garden section at the OCAC’s Children’s Garden and ghoulish goodies will be available. Also, a special trick or treat event at 6 p.m. on the third floor of the OCAC.

In case of inclement weather, all activities will be moved to the first floor of the Arts Center. Trick or treat will still occur on the third floor of the OCAC.
