Upcoming arts events include rock concert, cultural festival and music performance

Pan Rocks, a renowned group of steelpan players founded by musician Tracy Thornton, is set to perform classic rock-inspired covers 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at Miami University’s Millett Hall
Thornton’s group will be joined by electronic violinist Mark Wood and the orchestras from Mason, Centerville, Greenville and Oakwood High Schools.
The group will play hits from hard rock groups such as Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, incorporating its guest performers to enrich the instrumental arrangements. Tickets for the event, which run at $15 for adults, $14 for seniors and $10 for youth and students, can be purchased online.
Sikhs hold cultural festival in Uptown Memorial Park
Miami University’s Sikh Student Association is hosting a cultural festival at the Uptown Memorial Park, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, April 8.
The festival celebrates Vaisakhi Mela, one of the most important dates on the Sikh calendar. It marks the start of the Punjabi New Year and celebrates the year when the Sikhism faith was created.
There will be an information booth, a craft booth, food and performances throughout the event.
