Hanna Shamoon, 13, has been returned to her family, according to police.

Oxford Police say Hanna Shamoon, 13, was found Thursday and is now home after missing for the past three weeks. Details of where she has been were not released, and the case remains under investigation.

“There are some additional parts of this case that are currently being investigated, and we are unable to share them at this time,” Detective Sgt. Dave King said Friday. An update on the case may be available by next week, he said.

Shamoon, a Talawanda Middle School student, left her Oxford home between the hours of 1:18 a.m. and 2:45 a.m., Sept. 12.

Shamoon’s mother, Christine Shamoon, reached out to the community on the Oxford Talk Facebook page when her daughter first went missing and posted a heartfelt message on Thursday evening to everyone involved in the search.

I want to thank everyone for your love, concern and help in finding Hanna Shamoon. Hanna is home safe with us and we are so very thankful,” she wrote.  “I will never forget the way this community stood with us and looked for Hanna…all of you are truly amazing.”
