Traffic is being detoured around CSX railroad crossings throughout Oxford this week and next as the railroad repairs rails, ties and repaves the crossings.

The first detours involved the crossings on Chestnut Street, Main Street and Central Avenue this week. When those crossings are finished, the crossings at College Avenue and Spring Street will close. After that, High Street and Locust Street will follow. According to Oxford officials, each closing is estimated to last for two or three days depending on the weather.

The closings this past week caused a considerable amount of traffic on Spring Street during regular university hours. In the coming closings, consider alternative routes to avoid delays.

CSX is a supplier of rail-based freight transportation in North America. This maintenance project extends from Hamilton to Liberty, Indiana.
