Miami’s Howe Writing Center hosts poetry competition

Miami University’s Howe Writing Center (HWC) is holding a poetry contest open to Miami University undergraduate and graduate students in honor of National Poetry Month in April. The deadline for entries is 11:59 p.m. Friday, April 23. 

Poets will be awarded gift credits to the Miami Bookstore based off the results of the competition. First prize is a $150 credit, second prize is a $100 credit, and staff’s choice will receive a $50 credit. 

The theme of the contest is “Hope & Rebirth.”

“We want to read about your hopes for change, healing, wellness, and true equality in our lives, our communities, and our society,”  HWC wrote in an Instagram post promoting the contest.
