Parking meter fees resumed in uptown Oxford Dec. 31. For the month of December, bags were placed over the meters, giving community members the opportunity to park for free to encourage patronage of local stores and businesses during the holiday season.

First offense fines for parking violations, including parking at an unpaid meter or staying longer than the posted time limit, range from $10 to $25.

The city also recommends local drivers monitor weather reports during the winter months, as snow and ice may affect emergency snow route parking restrictions.
