Last week, Oxford police responded to reports of an abandoned gun, tampering of property, a fight, and engaged in a SWAT standoff.
On April 15, police responded to a report of a man trespassing in his ex-girlfriend’s apartment. When police arrived, the man did not comply and barricaded himself in the apartment. The Butler County Regional SWAT team responded after he refused to negotiate with officers at the door. After four hours, police used gas and a K-9 unit and arrested the man. He faces charges of burglary and obstructing justice.
On April 16, the pastor at Ambassador’s Pointe Church reported that someone tampered with two of the church’s air conditioning units. The electrical wires were pulled out of the units and they were moved from their pad. Police took a report but have no suspects.
On April 17, the owner of Family Vision Care found a rifle abandoned on his property. The rifle was rusted and weathered and police took it for safekeeping. Police do not know the owner of the rifle at this time.
On April 18, police responded to a report of a fight at an apartment. When officers arrived, they heard yelling and saw a man lift up his girlfriend by the neck. Police arrested the man for domestic violence.
