Miami University announced the offices of diversity, equity and inclusion will discontinue operations following Senate Bill 1 (S.B. 1).
The university is required to make several organizational changes to stay in compliance with the new S.B. 1 rules that will take effect at the end of June, according to a Miami press release.
Miami has discontinued three offices within the university’s main campus and satellite campuses. This includes the Office of Transformational and Inclusive Excellence (OTIE), Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion (CSDI) and Miami Regionals Center for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. All employees within these offices were offered alternative positions within the university.
Miami said in the press release they “will be guided by our core values of Love and Honor and our enduring commitment to providing a supportive community where all students, faculty, and staff can thrive.”
