Miami University Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Elizabeth Mullenix has stepped down from her position after three years.
In an email to the Miami faculty, Mullenix describes her decision to step down from provost this summer and return to her position as a professor in the college of creative arts.
Mullenix wrote in her email, “It has been a great honor to serve as an academic leader at Miami for so many years. I feel very fortunate to have had these experiences and opportunities, and to get to know so many more Miamians during the last three years.”
Mullenix is in her 19th year as an administrator at Miami. She previously served as chair of the department of theater for seven years and then later became the dean of the college of creative arts.
In her email, Mullenix states, “As I contemplate my last chapter before retirement, I am excited to round out my career as I started it: as a college professor.”
Later in the semester, Miami will name an interim provost to take Mullenix’s place and will start a search for a permanent replacement.
