Isaac Coffin of Talawanda Middle School and another eighth grader tied with 4.5/5 points to become co-champions at the 2024 Ohio Grade Level Chess Championships. Isaac won with the tie-break rules, so he came home with the first place trophy.
The eighth grade Team Talawanda finished in third place.
Talawanda also had a sixth grade team that finished fourth in its grade level.
