The Butler County Family + Children First Council is working with Kaleidoscope to host a workshop teaching social service professionals to create safer spaces for LGBTQIA+ Young adults, ages 18 to 24, in Hamilton this November.
The training is designed to provide understanding towards the barriers transgender people experience in various social systems – shared from the perspective of a transgender person.
Amanda Erickson is the trainer for the event and the director of education and outreach for Kaleidoscope, a pro-LGBTQIA+ youth center in Columbus.
The training will include topics like learning how to identify barriers, risk factors and messages that all affect transgender and LGBTQIA+ individuals, as well as how to create new and more inclusive strategies.
The training will be held from 12:30 to 4 p.m. on Nov. 13 at 400 N. Erie Blvd. in Hamilton.
