Anna Kell, a Miami University graduate and now an associate professor of art and art history at Bucknell University, returns to Miami University to showcase her newest exhibition, Sleep(less) Numbers.
Kell has showcased over a dozen exhibitions, her last at Miami being in 2017 for the Faculty & Alumni Exhibition at the Miami University Art Museum.
Kell’s current exhibition will be open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, through Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Hiestand Galleries, 401 S. Maple Ave., Oxford.
The artwork consists of an abstract series of explorations featuring sleeping couples seen in mattress advertisements printed onto old mattress covers.
Kell uses the figures to highlight the tension of sleepless nights and domestic disagreements, exposing how even our most personal rituals and private moments are commodified, According to a press release from the Milton Art Bank, which recently showcased her exhibit.
