The 59th annual Apple Butter Festival is taking place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 5 and 6 at the Hueston Woods Pioneer Farm. The event is $5 per adult or $10 per car. Children under the age of 12 have free admission.
The festival aims to provide a glimpse into 19th century farm life, according to the Oxford Museum Association’s website. Attendees have the opportunity to observe and participate in a pioneer-style apple butter making demonstration from noon to 3 p.m. on both days of the festival.
Tours of the Doty homestead and pioneer barn will also be available. On display are mid-1800s museum artifacts.
The festival is accompanied by live music, with bluegrass DJ John from 10 a.m. to noon and Wild Water bluegrass band from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The musical acts will perform both days of the festival. A park naturalist will also be present from 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. both days.
Other featured activities include spinning and weaving demonstrations, blacksmithing and alpacas for attendees to interact with.
Local food such as apples, cider, kettle corn and funnel cakes will be available to purchase alongside a variety of handmade arts and crafts.
