The Hueston Sailing Association is set to hold a sailing event on Saturday, Sept. 14 at Hueston Woods State Park Nature Center, 6301 Park Office Road, College Corner.
Those interested in the event must sign up on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. to register for a launch time, as space is limited. Three launch time slots are available: 10:30 a.m., noon and 1:30 p.m. Sign-up will be located at Acton Lake’s launch ramp, and sailors are asked to be on-site 15 minutes prior to their scheduled launch time.
For those interested in terrestrial activities, there will be naturalist-guided tours of the Nature Center at 10:30 a.m., noon and 1:30 p.m. The Nature Center houses various animals native to Ohio, and has “interactive displays … [of] the park’s history, geology, and Ohio’s native plants and animals,” according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).
Visitors can also explore the 67-year-old Hueston Woods State Park through various avenues, such as hiking on various trails, visiting the fenced-in dog park, hunting for fossils and fishing for largemouth bass and other species. According to the ODNR website, Hueston Woods State Park is also considered to be “an important birding area by the National Audubon Society.”
