The first fall drawing class session through the Oxford Community Arts Center will start Sept. 16 in the art education room. All classes cost $80; scholarships are available for students of all ages.
The OCAC is offering two beginner classes, one from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesdays, and the other taking place at the same time on Wednesdays.
Beginner classes will teach students how to draw from observation, including concepts such as shapes, proportions, dimensions and more.
For those who feel they are more advanced, intermediate/advanced classes will be offered from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursdays. Students taking the classes will be provided with cookies as they learn to draw.
Intermediate classes will utilize students’ prior knowledge and further explore drawing from observation, shading, compositions and portraits. Advanced classes take a more in-depth approach with shading, accuracy, complex composition, portraits and figures. Additionally, advanced classes will focus on individual interests.
All classes require that students have an 8×11 sketchbook, a plastic eraser, a sharpener, a pencil and/or set of pencils. These supplies will not be provided.
The first session of classes will continue until Oct. 26.
