Riding an 11-game win streak, Talawanda softball leads the Southwest Ohio Conference (SWOC) with a perfect conference record and just one loss on the season. The squad tackled two double-headers in the last week, taking on Bethel and Tri-County North on April 13, then Mt. Healthy twice on April 15. Talawanda won all four contests by double digits. Their closest win came against Lakota West on April 16, where the Brave prevailed 4-3.
Sophomore Kaylee Griffin leads the conference with 23 RBIs while batting 0.535, and senior McKenna Weekley maintains a 0.600 batting average, good enough for second-best in the SWOC. Junior pitcher Kylie Cobb’s 28 strikeouts are tied for most in the conference this season, while her 6 wins are best in the SWOC.
The girls track team finished second overall at the Dale Plank Invitational at Talawanda on April 16. The girls and boys track teams set four meet records: Lucia Rodbro in the 1600-meter run, Bryson Fears in the 800-meter run, Adriana Luking in the 3,200-meter run and Olivia Andrews in pole vault.
After a 13-3 loss to Monroe on April 14, baseball swept a double-header against Mt. Healthy on April 15, tallying 18 runs in both wins. The two wins keeps them at second in the conference behind Harrison.
Boys tennis experienced its first two losses of the season against Fenwick and St. Xavier on April 15 and 16 by scores of 3-2 and 4-1, respectively, but are still perfect in SWOC play and first in the conference.
