Talawanda Baseball started the week on fire, defeating Mt. Healthy 25-0 on April 5th. They couldn’t bring the momentum into the weekend though, falling to Lakota East by a score of 11-2. They then lost their second consecutive game on Tuesday, April 9th, falling to Harrison in extra innings 9-1.
Talawanda softball was dominant this week, going 6-0. They rattled off wins against Ursuline Academy, St. Ursula, and Lakota East on April 5th and 6th. Then they cruised through their midweek matchups, beating Harrison 12-11 in extra innings. The team followed up that victory by taking both games of a doubleheader against Northwest by a combined score of 20-0.
A pair of Talawanda athletes top the conference timesheet for the men’s 100 metre dash. Junior Ben Brown and Colin O’Brien are #1 and #2 respectively after their opening meets. The team also holds the best times in the men’s 400m and 3200m relays. In the men’s field events, Nolan Hodgson leads the SWOC with a 12 foot pole vault jump. Talawanda will travel to Eaton for relays on Tuesday, April 9th, before heading to Harrison on Thursday for the Greg Zuleger Invite.
The Girls track team is off to a strong start as well. Lucia Rodbro holds the best time in the 800 meters. Gracie Bower and Olivia Andrews are leading the 100m and 300m hurdles events respectively. Bower and Andrews also have the best scores in long jump and pole vault respectively as well. The team also holds the top time in the 400m and 1600m relays. Talawanda girls track will travel to Harrison three times this week to continue their season.
The boys tennis team has enjoyed an undefeated start to the season. They defeated Lebanon 4-1 to kick off their season, before taking down Northwest to go 2-0 on the year. Talawanda will host Badin on April 11th before traveling to Taylor on the 12th.
