The Oxford Police Department responded to a call from a fraternity on the 300 block of Bishop Street about an unconscious male asleep in a room with a loaded firearm in his bag.
Police also found rounds of ammunition and containers of prescription drugs in the man’s backpack. He was accused by residents of stealing $100, the prescription drugs and other objects from the fraternity house. The firearm was found to be stolen out of Missouri, where the accused was from.
The suspect is not part of the fraternity. He is related to an employee and had been staying at the house for two days before the incident. He was arrested on Feb. 19 on suspicion of theft.
