Between Jan. 29 and Feb. 4, the Oxford Police Department responded to 12 incidents, including a shoplifting occurrence at the local Walmart and an assault at a local restaurant.
On Jan. 31 at 4:09 p.m., officers responded to a report of a stolen bicycle at Kroger. The bike was stolen from a working employee. Later that evening, at 7:21 p.m., another theft was reported at Bob Evans on 5076 College Corner Pike.
On the afternoon of Feb. 2, officers responded to a report of shoplifting in progress at Walmart, located at 5720 College Corner Pike for a report of a shoplifting in progress. Police quickly identified and arrested the suspect for theft. The property stolen was returned, and the suspect was released on their own bond.
At 4:09 p.m. the same day, police responded to a business on 3600 Southpoint Pkwy. for an assault. An employee terminated from the local Penn Station on Jan. 31 returned to the business and argued with an employee over their last paycheck. The suspect leaned across the counter and punched the employee in the face before fleeing the scene. Police found the suspect located at his apartment where he was charged for assault.
Later that evening at 10:24 p.m., officers were dispatched for a trespassing complaint. According to the caller, an unknown male suspect attempted to enter a vacant residence. Officers arrested the suspect for criminal trespassing.
At 4:32 a.m. on Feb. 3, police responded to 221 W. Spring Street for a case of drug possession. The suspect was found in their car outside of a closed business. When police made contact with the individual, they were found to have had active warrants through the OPD and Butler County. The individual was in possession of methamphetamine, which was sent to the lab for testing.
