Since Oct. 26, the Butler County Health Inspector filed 10 new inspection reports, including five Oxford schools.
On Oct. 26, the inspector gave five non-critical violations to Phan Shin Restaurant at 104 W. High St. None of the violations were repeated, but all were concerned with keeping the restaurant clean and properly maintained.
The same day, the inspector issued one critical and six non-critical violations to Paesano’s Pasta House at 308 S. Campus Ave. The critical violation was for a dirty can opener, which was corrected during the inspection. Other violations were for the facility being dirty and the presence of dead pests in the restaurant.
Talawanda Middle School at 4030 Oxford Reily Rd. was inspected Oct. 30, receiving one critical and three non-critical violations. The critical violation was for sanitizing solution having too high of a concentration. A worker diluted the solution during the inspection, correcting the violation. Other violations included a repeat for a freezer being broken and other maintenance concerns.
Maude Marshall Head Start at 3260 Millville Oxford Rd. was inspected on Halloween day and received no violations. Maude Marshall Middle School — located at the same address — was also inspected Oct. 31, receiving only one critical violation for a dented can. The instructor said to throw out cans dented along the seams and corrected this during inspection by moving the cans to be discarded.
Later that day, Kramer Elementary School at 400 W. Sycamore St. received one non-critical violation because the door gaskets to a cooler were dirty. Bogan Elementary School at 5200 Hamilton-Richmond Rd. rounded out inspections for the day with three non-critical violations for issues such as using equipment that was not approved by a recognized testing agency, and having light covers with cracks.
On Nov. 1, the inspector visited Armstrong Student Center at 550 Spring St. for a complaint inspection. In the morning, a cooler was above the proper temperature. However, when the inspector got there, the cooler had moved back to proper temperature, and food that had gone above the required temperature was discarded. No violations were reported.
Bagel and Deli, located at 119 E. High St., was inspected on Nov. 3, following a complaint that a worker had no hair control and hair was found in the food. When the inspector came, all employees had hair tied up or covered. The restaurant had four non-critical violations with two repeats focusing on the use of equipment not recognized by the proper agencies.
Pho M Asian Fusion Cuisine at 431 S. Locust St., unit 102, had an inspection Nov. 9. The inspector issued no violations.
