Miami University will host a JANUS Forum event on Nov. 13 with Governor Mitch Daniels and Dr. Kristina Johnson, asking the question, “Is higher ed woke or broke?”
Daniels, the former governor of Indiana and former president of Purdue University, will discuss with Johnson, the former president of The Ohio State University and former chancellor of the State University of New York (SUNY), the legislation restrictions surrounding Ohio Senate Bill 83. The two speakers will focus on diversity programs on campus, the debate over free speech and hate speech on college campuses, and the overall value and cost of higher education.
The JANUS Forum is sponsored by Miami’s Political Science Department and provides a platform to discuss opposing views freely and expose the community to diverse opinions, according to Miami’s website.
The event will take place on Nov. 13 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Wilks Theatre in Armstrong Student Center with a reception to follow. The forum is free and open to the public, but a ticket is required. People interested can find tickets on Miami’s website.
