Whether you’re a cowboy, ghost, goblin, zombie, nurse, wearing a tuxedo shirt or just a child in search of candy, Oxford has a spooky festivity for you. Here are some of the Halloween festivities around the Oxford area:
Oxford Neighborhood Trick or Treat
Trick or treat this year will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 31. Participating residents are reminded to turn their porch lights on.
Talawanda Trunk or Treat
Talawanda High School invites all district families to participate in a Trunk or Treat event 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m Oct. 24. The school parking lot will be packed with crafts, photo shoots, games, fire trucks and decorated cars with trucks full of candy.
Trick or Treat OPR Style (and pet costume contest)
The Oxford Parks and Recreation Halloween festival will be 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 26 in Uptown Oxford. As well as candy distribution, free entertainment will include a magician, balloon artist, sing-along show and pet costume contest.
The pet costume contest entry begins at 5:30 p.m. and starts at 6 p.m. Pets will be judged on creativity, effort, theme and overall appeal. Animals can be registered in advance for the parade on the OPR website.
Lion’s Club Parade
Following the OPR Uptown festival on Oct. 27 is the annual Lion’s Club Parade at 7 p.m., beginning on Beech Street in front of You’re Fired pottery. Businesses uptown will pass out free candy for the spooky paraders.
Armstrong Center
Children are invited to trick or treat in Armstrong Student Center on Miami’s campus from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 28. Follow the stairs to the pavilion on the third floor.
Fall Family Festival at Kerusso Baptist Church
This church at 1069 Millville Oxford Rd. invites the community to a festival at 3 p.m. Oct. 28, which will include a kids magic show at 4 p.m., food and music at 5 p.m. and trunk or treat at 6 p.m.
Pumpkin Catapult
If you have jack-o-lanterns that you don’t know what to do with, this event from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 3. will offer the opportunity to send them flying from a catapult set up in the TRI Community Center at 6025 Fairfield Road.
