The Butler County Board of Health conducted eight health inspections between Sept. 8 and 18.
The inspector looked at the Miami University Child Development Center, 401 Western College Drive, on Sept. 8. The center received one critical violation and four non-critical violations. The critical violation was for dirty utensils and mold on the ice machine, although the violation was noted as corrected during inspection, with confirmation that the ice machine would be cleaned. The center also had a repeat non-critical violation due to hard-to-clean floors, walls, and ceilings.
The Indian Ridge Golf Club, 2600 Oxford Millville Road, received one critical and three non-critical violations during a follow-up inspection Sept. 8. The critical violation was a repeat offense of utensils and the ice machine being unclean, which was corrected during inspection. The golf club also received three repeat non-critical violations of clean utensils being stored improperly, non-food contact surfaces being dirty and facilities being in poor condition.
Delta Upsilon, 400 E. Vine St., was also given a follow-up inspection Sept. 8. It received two non-critical violations, both repeats, for not having approved and intact equipment.
Happy Kitchen, 32 W. High St., was inspected Sept. 12 and received two critical and two non-critical violations. The critical violations were for holding foods at the wrong temperature and not protecting food from contamination. Non-critical violations included litter and unnecessary items around the kitchen and a lack of towels at the hand washing station. The latter violation was corrected during the inspection.
Tea Cha House, 19 W. High St., was inspected Sept. 15 for a follow-up inspection, receiving two critical and six non-critical violations. One critical violation was for pests. For the other, the inspector wrote that the person in charge was “unable to demonstrate knowledge by having no critical violations.” The non-critical violations ranged from unapproved equipment to the men’s restroom having a sewer-like smell. Another follow-up was scheduled for Oct. 17.
The Panera Bread in Armstrong, 550 E. Spring St., was inspected Sept. 15 as well. The restaurant received only one non-critical violation for broken equipment.
Miami University’s Martin Dining Center, 5397 Bonham Rd., was given a complaint inspection on Sept. 18, receiving two critical violations. The first was for the hot water for mechanical sanitization not being at the proper temperature. The second was for waffle batter not being marked properly for when it should be discarded, although this was corrected during inspection.
Bell Tower Dining Commons, 401 E. High St., was inspected Sept. 18 and received one critical and two non-critical violations. Temperature controlled food was not being held at proper temperatures, which was corrected during the inspection.
