The Butler County Health Department visited eight Oxford businesses this past week. Four businesses received at least one critical violation; all received non-critical violations.
Comfort Inn, located at 5056 College Corner Pike, was inspected July 18 and received five critical and seven non-critical violations. The critical violations involved the presence of gnats in the breakfast bar, storage of various chemicals on the prep counter, waffle batter being stored nearly 20 degrees above the required temperature, sausage links 10 degrees below serving temperature in a flip-top countertop steam table and the person in charge being unable to demonstrate knowledge. The report notes that none of the employees had food safety training.
Fiesta Charra, located at 25 W. High St., was also inspected July 18 and also received both five critical and seven non-critical violations. The critical violations pertained to the water supply inlet for the ice machine being inside the flood rim of the wastewater drain, gnats and flies in the dish room area, incorrect concentration of sanitizing solution, a build-up of grime on the facility’s can opener and the person in charge also being unable to demonstrate knowledge of food safety. The report notes that the facility was “in need of a deep clean.”
Insomnia Cookies, located at 33 E. High St., was inspected July 14 and received four non-critical violations.
Ramen Hachi, located at 17 W. Church St., was inspected July 14 and received five non-critical violations.
United Dairy Farmers, located at 101 W. High St., was inspected July 13 and received a follow-up visit on July 14. The initial visit had six critical and six non-critical violations. The critical violations dealt with an insufficient air gap within an ice machine, cheese and coffee creamer being stored 1o degrees above the required temperature, under-diluted dishwashing sanitizer solution, a lack of information about where employees should report health information, a customer entering the back of house area, and the person in charge being unable to demonstrate knowledge of food safety. The follow-up visit had one non-critical violation.
Graeter’s, located at 29 W. High St., was inspected July 13 and received two non-critical violations.
Starbucks, located at 19-21 E. High St., received one critical and two non-critical violations during a visit July 13. The critical violation entailed a lack of knowledge of health responsibilities–only one employee had read and signed the health policy.
Snack Shack, located at 2560 Millville Oxford Road, was inspected July 17 and received three non-critical violations.
