With the publication of the July 21 issue, the Oxford Observer will go on vacation for the remainder of the summer.
The Oxford Observer is produced by Miami University journalism students under the direction of faculty editors.
Publication of the Observer this summer was made possible by the Greater Oxford Community Foundation and the Menard Family Foundation.
Due to the sponsorship of these organizations, this summer our reporters were able to tell dozens of stories about local schools and community events that might otherwise not have been told. This included coverage of Kramer students’ efforts to raise money for a playground; the looming Aug. 8 special election; and cutbacks at Talawanda.
According to our software platform, between about 1,200 and 3,000 readers visited the Observer website every week since May. Looking at the numbers another way, almost 12,000 unique users stopped by the Observer website this summer, for a total of almost 47,000 page views. Nine Observer news stories were republished in the Butler County Journal-News.
Our weekly reporting about Oxford news and current events will resume in September. In the meantime, if you’d like to be added to the Observer’s free, weekly e-newsletter – or have suggestions for stories or tips – send an email to [email protected].
Kind regards,
Steve Siff
