Opportunities at the Oxford Community Arts Center this summer range from movie screenings, to “interactive art” classes for adults and youth, with registration for children’s summer camps now underway.

Adult art education classes will include drawing, watercoloring and tai chi. Classes begin the week of June 5. 

Youth classes include ballroom dancing, drawing, watercolor and tai chi. 

Six youth summer camps are planned for June and July:

  • Theatre Camp for kids (ages 4-7) June 5-June 26 from 1:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.
  • Dungeons & Dragons Camp (ages 12-15) June 12-June 23 from 1:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.
  • Theatre Camp for Teens (ages 13-17) June 19-June 30 from 1:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.
  • Gardening Camp (ages 8-12) June 26-June 30 from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. 
  • Theatre Camp for Youth (ages 8-12) July 10-July 21 from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 a.m.
  • Making a Superhero Camp (ages 10-16) July 31-Aug. 4 from 1:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.

In addition, OCAC will show free movies on the first Friday of June, July and August in the outdoor pavilion. Pre-movie activities begin at 8 p.m. and the movie starts at dusk. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Snacks and free popcorn will be available. 

The films are Disney’s “Encanto,” June 2; “The Lego Batman Movie”  July 7; and Disney and Pixar’s “Coco” Aug. 4.
